Found this feather laying on the back patio all by its lonesome.

Day 42

Louisiana's own R.O.U.S., in all it's orange-teethed glory....

Day 41

I liked the way the sun was shining through the clouds when I left the store this evening, and decided to play with the black and white setting. The birds just happened to fly by, adding a neat element to the photo.

Day 38

Found this yesterday while photographing the hibiscus.

Day 37

The inner portion of a hibiscus flower. Although not my original focus of the flower, this picture ended up being the neatest one I took today.

Day 36

Dad made a new friend while working in the yard who then invited himself inside for some A/C...

Day 34

Found this at the dollar store - great place to find cheap crap to photograph btw...

Day 33

Courtesy of my phone's touch screen and the macro lens.

Day 31

Hmm...so I'm thinking Mondays and Thursdays will require more planning for the next few months....

Day 30

Got some rain early this afternoon, so I went out in the backyard in search of raindrops. Had several photos I really liked, but Dad helped me settle on this one.

Day 28

Hat tip to Michelle for suggesting City Park...it's my new favorite place! Click to zoom in to get the full view of the reflection...

Day 27

Saw this in my rear view mirror, immediately pulled into the next parking lot to take it. Used the polarized lens.

Day 26

Ok, so it's not pretty but...they're putting a new roof on the bank nearby.  Much better working at night I would suppose....

Day 25

More macro fun, as well as playing with shadows. It's called lantana and we're pretty sure it arrived during a hurricane.  It lives in front of a downspout and grows like a weed. But a pretty weed nonetheless...You can see a lot more detail if you zoom in.

Day 23

I know, it's two dragon flies in a row...but this view was different!

Day 22 Photo

This one posed for me for a long time, which was good cuz I needed all the time I could get! It was funny, if I got too close, he'd fly back about a foot and hover for a second, then come back to his spot. And yes, I made sure to thank him!

Day 21 Photo

It's the simple things in life...in this case a bottle of Vermont maple syrup - yummy.....

Day 20 Photo

Found this out back of the lab. I snapped one quick pic before getting buzzed by several wasps. I didn't plan on using it, until I took a good look at it. The composition is crappy, but the effect is neat! You might have to click on the photo to enlarge it to see what I mean.

Day 19 Photo

A truck load of rice being unloaded. I had fun playing with the shutter speed to create the effect of movement. This was my favorite of the group.

Day 18 Photo

Tree stump in the side yard. My dad calls it the owl in the stump :)

Day 17 Photo

Lizard! This little guy posed for me on the hibiscus plant in the front yard. I am loving my macro lens.

Day 16 Photo

Grr...google keeps rotating this pic and I can't figure out how to make it stop. In any case, this was my first rushed attempt with the macro lens. Rule #1 - you cannot rush with a macro lens :)

Day 15 Photo

Another photo courtesy of my Aunt's yard.

Day 14 Photo

Chipmunks are so much fun to photograph! Especially since we don't have any in southern Louisiana...I could have sat outside in my Aunt's yard for days thanks to her gardens and bird/squirrel feeders.

Day 13 Photo

Absolutely love this one...I noticed the cloud pattern while riding with my Aunt, grabbed my polarized lens, aimed up and took the pic. I had not lowered the shutter speed to account for the lens and ended up with this awesome underexposed shot that wouldn't be nearly as neat if it was a "correct" exposure.

Day 12 Photo

Ahh...the view from a banana yellow Cessna, flown by Phil who only scared me a little bit. Took off from Lake Placid air strip, flew through the mountains and over the Olympic bobsled course. The ride was a tad bumpy, but most of my pics weren't too bad! This is my favorite tho.

Day 11 Photo

My Aunt had found this guy a while back and we passed him during our travels - all that's missing is the black  bomb bird....  :)

Day 10 Photo

While visiting my Aunt, she drove me all around the Adirondack region. Although she was well acquainted with this spot, I was slightly alarmed when all of the sudden she made a blind left turn! However, as soon as we turned onto the road I understood why.  The photo doesn't nearly do it justice, it was a gorgeous spot.

Day 9 Photo

Found this at my cousin's, absolutely love it.

Day 8 Photo

I spent an awesome week visiting my aunt. She has this cool plant called a bee balm (I originally thought it was a bee bomb which is much cooler, but alas it is not...) that the bumblebees love as well as the hummingbirds. My first day there, I caught this guy in action.  I love the effect of the wings!

Day 7 Photo

Another cloud formation outside of work, taken with the white balance setting on tungsten.

Day 6 Photo

My baby...who was trying to sleep but I kept sticking the camera in her face.  Actually took this before I got my macro lens...should try it now with the macro lens and compare. An idea for another day....

Day 5 Photo

One of my other hobbies...I call it origami in the wild, lol.

Day 4 Photo

Noticed this one leaving the office, used a polarized lens.

Day 3 Photo

One of the cats noticed this guy on the back door after a storm. I wanted to get a picture of him all splayed out, but every time I got close he curled up. Still pretty cool tho.

Day 2 Photo

I love this little guy! Found him at Hobby Lobby, they had a bunch of different things made out of screws, washers, nuts, etc.

Day 1 Photo

Technical name is Tradescantia albiflora, but it's more commonly known as a wandering jew plant....In any case, it's a neat purple plant that doesn't usually have 2 flowers like that, it's usually only 1. I liked the lines of the leaves too. In a pot in the backyard of my parents house.

Explanation of sorts...

I like photography.  I'd been having fun, took a class, read some books, but kinda got away from it for a bit.  Then I read about the Project 365. You take and post a photo a day. Some people use different themes every week or look for specific things to photo, or just document their daily life.  For now, I just plan on photographing whatever I can find between work and home and wherever my travels take me.

I hadn't really planned on posting my pics anywhere, but was "convinced" to do so....after looking around I decided on blogspot so I could easily link to it, as well as have a page where no one had to log in. I can't promise there won't be days with boring pictures but I do promise not to use my cat as a fall back. Well not too much at least :)

I've been working on the project for a few weeks now, up to day 22 currently.  So I need to catch up on a few posts, but should be up to speed soon. Hope y'all enjoy it!
